Lidl made headlines last September when it announced it would only stock Fairtrade bananas - but now the discount giant is quietly taking back that announcement, hoping no one will notice or care. Each under-priced banana Lidl sells represents a farm worker who’s subjected to back-breaking labour and exposed to toxic pesticides for just pennies a day. Lidl’s top execs believe we won’t spend more on fruit from farms who pay their workers a living wage. It’s up to us to tell them we've noticed, we care and cheap bananas aren’t worth it!
