The choice of fair trade and ethically-produced goods has increased over the past years. Previously, people had to seek out fair trade goods and pay much higher prices. Today, companies have responded to the needs of the workers and desires of the consumers. Choosing fair trade and ethical products has become much easier - whether it be food, drink or clothes. We can feel that we are doing our bit and making a difference, but is it enough? Using our money to buy goods that support the fair treatment of those who make the goods is important. But, let's not become complacent and start believing this is enough. There is always more we can do to support others. We can speak out for the oppressed and fight for their cause. We can write to governments, asking for change. We can write to shops, commending them for the number of ethically-produced products they sell or requesting that they stock more. We can research the conditions of the workers and use the information to encourage others to support fair trade. What ways can you further seek justice for the oppressed? Where can you speak out against injustice?
