2020 will be an interesting year! We will be celebrating 18 years of being a presence here in Llandudno but we will also be saying goodbye to our two paid part-time members of staff - Pam who has been with us since we started, and is retiring, and Emma who has worked here for the past few years, and is moving away and getting married. So, can you help in any way?
Volunteers are needed! Can you see yourself:
This month we're celebrating 25 years of the Fairtrade Mark.
These days you'll find the mark in green and blue (like opposite) or black and white.
It's a quarter of a century since the FAIRTRADE Mark launched in the UK.
For 25 years, Fairtrade and it's supporters have been fighting against poverty and inequality, making a real difference to the lives of farmers and workers.
From working with businesses and governments, teaching about Fairtrade in schools, campaigning and lobbying, to choosing Fairtrade in the shops, you have been part of this journey.
We had a great day with Author Suzy Senior reading her stories to groups of children. Some children (and staff) came in fancy dress costumes. The cupcakes were given out to appreciative customers and staff alike! The treasure hunt was enjoyed by all and we were able to welcome new families into the shop that had never visited us before. A big "Thank you" to everyone who helped make this day a success.

At this year's CRT conference Beacon Books came runner-up out of over 300 other stores, as "Small Retailer of the year 2019".
Pam and Emma were there to collect the award.
Our thanks go to our volunteers who help to keep the place running as well as all our customers, the locals and those who come on holiday and visit us year after year! We are also so thankful to God for sustaining us year after year and providing for us step by step.
We must of course give our huge congratulations to the store that won the award: Eastbourne Christian Resource Centre.
Today is Lemon Juice day.......
We don't sell lemon juice, but we do sell Fentiman's Victorian Lemonade. Why not try some when you next pop in?
Just a reminder - we are closed this Monday 26th August. Enjoy your bank holiday!
Lidl made headlines last September when it announced it would only stock Fairtrade bananas - but now the discount giant is quietly taking back that announcement, hoping no one will notice or care.
Each under-priced banana Lidl sells represents a farm worker who’s subjected to back-breaking labour and exposed to toxic pesticides for just pennies a day. Lidl’s top execs believe we won’t spend more on fruit from farms who pay their workers a living wage. It’s up to us to tell them we've noticed, we care and cheap bananas aren’t worth it!
Yesterday was International Small Business Day!
